2020 Peter Lisagor Awards: Enter now!

The Chicago Headline Club is now accepting nominations for the 2020 Peter Lisagor Awards!

Enter the contest here by clicking on “2020 Chicago Headline Club: The 44th Annual Peter Lisagor Awards.”

Nominated works must have been published or aired between Jan. 1, 2020 and Dec. 31, 2020. Entries must be the original work of journalists in Illinois or who work for news media based in the state or northwest Indiana.

A complete list of categories and instructions on how to submit are available below.

Separately, the deadline for the Anne Keegan Award – which honors writers who tell stories of ordinary people – is February 28, 2021. Details and rules for how to enter that contest can be found here

All nominations must meet standards set forth in the Society of Professional Journalists’ Code of Ethics. Entities that are principally advocacy organizations are not eligible. Entries should include all related corrections, clarifications or retractions.

Entries are judged by an impartial SPJ chapter outside Illinois. Winners will be announced at our 2020 Peter Lisagor Awards and 100th anniversary celebration — yes, that’s right, the club’s centennial — on Friday, May 14, 2021.

Join now and save.

By popular demand (and pleas for flexibility during the pandemic), the deadline for submitting entries for the Lisagors has been extended through midnight Friday, Feb. 12. A late fee of $10 per entry will be charged.

Including the late fee, each entry will cost $80 for non-members; $60 for Chicago Headline Club members.
