Marquette Student Wins 2009 Summer CHC Scholarship May 11, 2009

The Chicago Headline Club is pleased to announce that the winner of the 2009 McAndrew/McClelland scholarship is Christopher Placek.

The Marquette University student will receive a $2,500 stipend from the Chicago Headline Club Foundation to defray living expenses during his summer internship at the Daily Herald.

The goal of the scholarship is to provide financial support to a college student seeking professional journalism training in a local print, broadcast, radio or digital newsroom. The McAndrew/McClelland scholarship was available to any college student who had secured an unpaid internship for Summer 2009 in professional newsroom in the Chicago area.

Candidates were assessed by a committee of the Headline Club and evaluated on their previous experience, clips, cover letter and an interest in pursuing a career in journalism.
