The Chicago Headline Club has extended its deadline for accepting nominations for the 2020 Peter Lisagor Awards. The new deadline is midnight Friday, Feb. 12, and will incur a $10 late entry fee.

Nominated works must have been published or aired between Jan. 1, 2020 and Dec. 31, 2020. Entries must be the original work of journalists in Illinois or who work for news media based in the state or northwest Indiana.

All nominations must meet standards set forth in the Society of Professional Journalists’ Code of Ethics. Entities that are principally advocacy organizations are not eligible. Entries should include all related corrections, clarifications or retractions.
Entries are judged by an impartial SPJ chapter outside Illinois. Winners will be announced at our 2020 Peter Lisagor Awards and 100th anniversary celebration — yes, that’s right, the club’s centennial — on Friday, May 14, 2021.
Through Jan. 22, 2021, each EARLY BIRD entry will cost $50 for non-members; $30 for Chicago Headline Club members. Join now and save. After that, through Jan. 31, 2021 each entry will cost $70 for non-members; $50 for Chicago Headline Club members.
By popular demand (and pleas for flexibility during the pandemic), the deadline for submitting entries for the Lisagors has been extended through midnight Friday, Feb. 12. A late fee of $10 per entry will be charged. Please submit your entries using the directions below.
