On Saturday, March 21, FOIA Fest will equip journalists with the practical skills, tips and strategy necessary to successfully leverage the Freedom of Information Act and other investigative tactics in their reporting. The annual public records conference will include pressing conversations about the legal challenges and limitations to information that newsrooms and journalists are facing, as well as workshops, case studies and breakout sessions about the Freedom of Information Act, accountability reporting and other investigative techniques.
You’ll hear from some of the best reporters, lawyers, editors and producers working in Illinois. And you’ll learn alongside seasoned reporters, early career journalists and students studying the field.
FOIA Fest will be hosted at Medill at 303 E. Wacker Dr. It will be a one-day in-person event. FOIA Fest typically sells out and space is limited — so make sure to get your tickets today!
Saturday, March 21, you’ll have the opportunity to join us in person for a full day of sessions touching on a range of topics from learning the fundamentals of the FOA and best practices to sharpening your investigative reporting skills and learning new strategies.
A light breakfast, coffee and tea, and lunch will be provided. During lunch, we’ll announce the winners of our 2025 Watchdog Award and A-Mark Prize for Reporting and Editing. Tickets are on sale now.
