Empowering Chicago’s future journalists: $10K in internship grants available for nonprofit news organizations

At a time when local journalism plays an increasingly vital role in democracy and community engagement, the Chicago Headline Club Foundation is proud to announce the availability of up to $10,000 in internship grants to support nonprofit news organizations serving the Chicago metropolitan area.

The Foundation will award up to two $5,000 grants to help nonprofit print, broadcast or digital newsrooms provide paid, high-quality internship opportunities for emerging journalists. The program is designed to strengthen public service journalism by investing in both newsroom capacity and the next generation of reporters, editors and storytellers.

As nonprofit news organizations continue to navigate financial, political and technological challenges, these grants aim to ensure that young journalists gain meaningful, hands-on experience in mission-driven newsrooms that are committed to accountability, equity and community impact. Application available here.
