Add some journalism sparkle to your holidays by attending a screening of “All the President’s Men” at 5:15 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 18, at the Siskel Film Center in downtown Chicago. Tickets for this fundraiser are $50 plus modest processing fees and include popcorn and a drink. Join us for a one-hour reception after the screening.
This event directly supports the Chicago Headline Club’s scholarship and grants programs.
There are three ways you can support us:
- Join us in person and buy tickets here.
- Sponsor a student to attend. Your sponsorship will help cover the cost of a student’s ticket and help fund our scholarships and grants programs.
- Donate directly to help us reach our goal of raising $5,000 to support next year’s scholarship and grant program. Your donation will make a difference in the lives of future journalists.
Celebrate the holidays by supporting local media and viewing this classic journalism movie starring the late Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman on Dec. 18 at the Siskel Film Center: Chicago’s Home for Great Cinema, 164 N. State St.
What the Club and Foundation have been up to:
The Chicago Headline Club Foundation has been busy this fall. We launched an Essential Equipment Fund to help independent and freelance journalists report safely and effectively on issues in the public interest throughout the Chicago metropolitan area. This fund provides limited financial assistance — up to $500 per person per year — to reimburse or directly pay for essential gear and field tools used while covering protests, demonstrations and other public events.
The Chicago Headline Club successfully joined local media outlets and organizations with legal action to stop federal attacks on journalists in Broadview, Illinois. A federal judge upheld the right for journalists to do their jobs without facing unprovoked attacks from federal agents.
The Club took home three top honors at the Society of Professional Journalists’ 2025 MediaFest, held in Washington, D.C., Oct. 15 to 18. The awards included Large Chapter of the Year, Circle of Excellence Award and the Sunshine Award.
With support from Press Forward, the Club hosted the Chicago Media Career Fair in October for a day of professional development, peer connection and newsroom access.
