The Chicago Headline Club is committed to improving the quality of journalism and in-depth reporting. Our grants are provided to individuals who demonstrate a dedication to journalism and to accurately communicating the events of our time.
We also offer one $3,000 scholarship and two $3,000 intern grants annually to students who wish to pursue a career in journalism. The grants are open to print, broadcast and online reporters, freelancers, photographers, bloggers, editors and producers.
In 2014, the Les Brownlee Award will be given to an undergraduate student at Loyola University. The Chicago Headline Club rotates universities each year in distributing the award.
Our two grants are open to all undergraduate students in the Chicago area pursuing summer internships in journalism.
The deadline to apply is Friday, April 18th 2014.
To apply for the Brownlee Award or an internship grant, email Randi Belisomo at rbelisomo@gmail.com and include a cover letter as to why you are a deserving candidate, an explanation of the internship you seek to fund (if applicable), a resume and three examples of your work. Your work samples may be “clips” or links to videos.
We will announce winners in early May.
Good luck to all!
