We’re looking to build a more diverse Board of Directors for the Chicago Headline Club, one that will represent the greater Chicago journalism community. We want candidates from all media and disciplines: television, radio, wire, newspapers, blogs, magazines, academia and retirees.
If you’re enthusiastic about your profession, want to improve and protect it, and can commit to monthly meetings and perform committee work, you’re an ideal candidate for our board. Send your resume to CHC president Mary Wisniewski (wiz1166@yahoo.com), and incoming president Odette Yousef (odette.yousef@gmail.com), along with a brief statement outlining what you would bring to our board of directors. We currently have three board seats open for the term starting July 1. Deadline: March 27.
The Chicago Headline Club Board meets monthly to help plan programming and services for the journalism committee, including our annual Lisagor Awards and FOIA Fest; educational events such as panels on race and politics, covering traumatic events and environmental reporting; as well as fun, networking opportunities such as Burger Nights and movie nights. We also act as a voice for professional journalists – speaking out against laws that restrict access to information, and defending journalists threatened for protecting their sources. Board members are required to stay current on their membership. If you want to be a part of this vital and important organization, let us hear from you soon.
