The Chicago Headline Club has joined a coalition of media organizations seeking legal action to stop federal attacks on journalists in Broadview, Illinois. The lawsuit, which also includes clergy and individual protesters, calls for protection of First Amendment rights. Our focus is on press freedom. The targeting of reporters and photographers covering demonstrations outside the ICE facility is more than an assault on the press — it’s an assault on the public’s right to know. When journalists are silenced, the public loses access to the truth about government actions.
By joining this lawsuit, the Headline Club affirms its mission to protect press freedom and ensure the public has access to independent, accurate information. We will continue to stand against intimidation, violence and unlawful arrests that threaten these fundamental rights. We will keep you informed as the case develops.
