Our Trainer:
Ben Meyerson is a content editor on the Chicago Tribune’s Audience team, where he sharpens the paper’s digital coverage, engages on social media — and writes, too. He’s also a former president of the Chicago Headline Club.
About the Chicago Headline Club:
The Chicago Headline Club is the largest chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) in the nation. We provide training, scholarships, awards and community for our members. We offer training through our year-round programs, such as FOIAfest and tech workshops. Our professional members also offer mentorship, feedback and networking opportunities for student journalists and freelancers. Since 1921, the Headline Club has administered grants and scholarships to investigative and student journalists, $60,000 in the last five years alone. Join here: https://www.spj.org/joinapp.asp
About the Facebook Journalism Project:
The Facebook Journalism Project was created in January 2017 to ensure that quality news thrives on Facebook. FJP focuses on three pillars: collaborative development of new products; tools and trainings for newsrooms; and tools and trainings for people. For more information, visit: https://www.facebook.com/facebookmedia/get-started/facebook-journalism-project
About the Society of Professional Journalists:
SPJ promotes the free flow of information vital to informing citizens; works to inspire and educate the next generation of journalists, and fights to protect First Amendment guarantees of freedom of speech and press. Support excellent journalism and fight for your right to know. Become a member, give to the Legal Defense Fund, or give to the Sigma Delta Chi Foundation.
About the SPJ Training Program in partnership with the Facebook Journalism Project:
In 2018, Facebook partnered with SPJ to train a network of professionals to teach Facebook Tools for Journalists at conferences, workshops and newsrooms around the country. Facebook and SPJ are committed to creating opportunities for journalists everywhere to learn about the ways Facebook tools can help create and share incredible works of journalism, as well as engaging the public in the stories about their communities.
