We’re always looking for new board members to join the Chicago Headline Club Board in our mission to promote journalism and support journalists across our region.
If you worry about the future of journalism and want to work to protect and improve it in your community, joining our volunteer board is a great way to do your part.
We bring together members from all media and disciplines, encompassing television, radio, newspapers, digital, magazines, academia and retirees.
There’s a lot of work to be done, so our board is divided into committees which take on different tasks to serve the larger mission.
This includes organizing training and roundtable events, hosting the popular FOIA Fest, offering scholarships and presenting the Peter Lisagor Awards, a cornerstone of the Chicagoland journalism community.
If you can commit to attending monthly meetings (virtually if necessary) and working with a group of like-minded professional volunteers, we would love to have you on the board.
Board terms run for two years and any applicants must be dues-paying members of the Society of Professional Journalists as well as the Chicago Headline Club.
We have a few seats open on the board for the coming year, in addition to many openings on committees depending on your interests.
